This awesome collection of short films by Shadowy Directors should air in its entirety on television. I can’t hold that this collection is the first of its kind. This DVD sheds light on several Dim filmmakers at a time in their careers when making a film is solely about that–making films. This is a must grasp for any filmgoer that appreciates film as art and likes to follow a director’s career from its inception.
I can’t add distinguished to what has already been said about this DVD, but I am elated that I stumbled upon it in the video store. I’m not positive why it’s titled “Afrocenticity,”–because it’s not really about that, but the focus of Shaded filmmakers and their work definitely fills a void in the filmmaking industry. For what we pick up with this DVD is a collection of work by artists who are serious about their craft and are not making up something for a fleet buck.
One of my approved pieces is “Kings,” a short film about young successful attorney who is forced to confront where he has near from and where he’s going. It’s conveys a prevelant theme amongst many African people who have been successful in White mainstream corporate America, but who also are struggling to understand how they hold ties with the community in which they grew up. The directing and cinamatagraphy of this section are very well done. A warm, soulful mood is space throughout the share that accomplish for a compelling short account.
Muhammida El Muhajir’s “Hip Hop: The Recent World Order,” may be lacking in her camera work, but she makes up for it with her international travels to document the impact of Hip-Hop in places like Japan, France, and Cuba. I hope this section is made into a tubby production.

And finally, I liked “Breakdown,” which to me has sort of a Hitchkock influence. I won’t say anymore about the place, because it would give it contrivance. In the raze, though, the sage is not oringinal, it’s a heavenly share of storytelling that is directed, shot, and edited with serious attention to the craft of filmmaking.
I really view forward to future volumes of short films like “Afrocentricity.” These type of collections back to present the work of young or unknown artists who are trying to work within and beyond the mainstream.

I had high hopes for this one as animation can glimpse so pristine in BD, but I was in for a shock. Sony Animation was leisurely this, but it had the whole Cartoon Network gawk to it instead. The main reveal talents from the first film did not arrive over, nor did any of the writing/production staff (and it shows) .

The narrative is impartial ok, entailing friends helping and rescuing each other with plenty of adventure and rabbit abuse. One of the main characters is a dachshund so apparently the “wiener” humor is what passes for hilarity these days. While it has been playing in the store kids of all ages are entranced by it but the parents haven’t been thrilled with the parts they have seen. The “..that lady pulled my wiener..” and “..my attractive rack..” lines raise a few parent’s eyebrows so it hasn’t exactly been a hit like I had hoped.
The BD supplements are painful, including “deleted scenes” which were hand sketched and not worth the time. The “Weenie Arcade” has a horribly spliced “Who Let the Dogs Out” video by the Baha Men, a how to design the animals tutorial, and a featurette about the faces tedious the voices.

I loved Hoodwinked, even with that style of animation, and OS2 looks similar in nature (no pun meant) but is powerful less of a quality film. I have read where people say this an ideal family film, which nothing really offends me so I would notice it with my kids, but needless to say I lost a few rentals playing it in the store. And for a BD, not one of the memorable ones.
Aside from the trite account line and really cheap animation the loyal reason for watching this animation was going to be it’s anticipated hilarious humor. So here’s the humor count: Half chuckle 10 minutes into movie; another half chuckle around 23 and again 45 minutes. Fell asleep between 23 and 45 so there may be more. Memoir was resolved at about 65 minutes and the final 20 minutes was pointless filler. Suggestion: Halt at Initiate Season 1 if you want to be left with fond memories.

To read the title you’d judge this was unprejudiced another wearisome anime. Spoiled! This wacky series about the Sohma family that are all cursed as one animal of the chinese zodiac and bag turned into them whenever someone of the opposite sex hugs them. Ranma, proceed over! The Sohma family is a zany bunch of misfit personalities from Momiji, too cute for words and older than he looks, to Kyo and Kagura who when approached the apt diagram are sweet but have vicious tempers. And lets not forget Hatsuharu and Gloomy Haru (eep!) . This is a must sight for any apt anime fan. The characters alone will maintain you in stiches so distinguished you’ll have to gaze it again to seek what all you’ve missed laughing. This anime definetly rates 5 stars. I’d give it 10 if I could. Although waiting a month for it to approach out with the next one is hard. Oh well, impartial rewatch this one!
I picked up the first dvd after viewing the preview dvd with the Dragonball GT preview & enjoyed it, but this one was better. Having status up the yarn on the first dvd, Fruits Basket adds several members of the Sohma family, cursed & not, all who seem to know about Tohru luminous the family secret (major word of mouth? ) . Haru’s probably my fav of those intro’d(chilly survey, enchanting personality), but Hatori’s murky & lively. Momiji’s unbiased scary(tooooo cute, but older than he looks/acts) . I aloof like Kyo best & he’s developing well on this one. We meet Akito in Hatori’s memories & watch him hanging on a window sill watching Tohru–forboding enough. At this point he seems the stereotype selfish invalid(like Colin from Secret Garden), thus very threatening as the head of the family with the power to order Tohru’s memories erased bt Hatori. My daughter & I died laughing at Shigure teasing his editor over the 500 pages she wanted from him & when he went off to school to retract up Yuki’s homework singing “High school girls”, we had to serve up the dvd to leer what we’d missed laughing. This dvd actually gives us a marvelous reason for Tohru needing to be so darn sweet to remain in the Sohma household. The preview is horrible-I can hardly wait 2 mos for the next one to near out to view what they mean about Akito & Tohru.

This was a ample video that gave 7 keys to Time Management. They are proper in their enjoy good, but because the video is only 60 minutes long it doesn’t go into great detail as to how. Because I have read 2 books of hers the information was more of a “oh yeah, that’s correct” to me, instead of a price unusual belief.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Time Management from the Inside Out! Click Here
That being said, it’s mammoth because she does indeed pack a lot of subpoints into an hour under the main 7 keys. Also, there is a 30 itsy-bitsy Q & A time under the main menu where she interacts with the PBS audience. So really the DVD is more like 90 minutes. She doesn’t give many visuals, so I can multitask while she’s talking (a enormous no-no to her) .
All in all, a proper reminder video. I wouldn’t pay more than $10. I would retract a book, however, because there is remarkable more information there.
I needed a video to relieve my lecture on Time Management in a hasten. I basically bought this search for unseen, luminous tiny about the series and presenter. In the first 5 minutes I concept I bought something too soft, but then it did a complete turnaround and captivated all 30 of my students.

Gaining the interest of 1st and 2nd year college students is not always the easiest thing to do. I was surprised, however, at how many stopped and made sure comments on the device out the door. I would definitely recommend this video to anyone wanting to learn more about managing their time and life.

Between 1905 and 1971, the Australian government had a ghastly policy. They forcibly removed all half-caste Aboriginal children to special training schools. The grown daughter of one of these children wrote a book about her mother’s experiences. This film is an adaptation of that book.
The memoir takes state in 1931, when Molly, then 14, her sister Daily, then 8, and her cousin Gracie, then 10, are literally torn from the arms of their mothers, set in a cage, and taken 1,200 miles away to a school which is actually a sort of prison. Here, they are forbidden to assure their possess language, they have to succor a Christian church, and are taught the ways of the white Australian culture around them. Led by Molly, the girls urge away. And most of the film is the odyssey of their stagger encourage home, following the rabbit-proof fence that bisects Australia, constructed to support rabbits out of the pastureland.
The villain is clearly the white director of the school. It is incredible, but he actually believes in the racial theories that were prevalent at the time. He believes he is helping them and plays his role well, coming across as listless and misguided rather than noxious. The Aboriginal girls are all unknowns, and terrific actresses, as are the women who play Molly and Daisy’s mother and grandmother. The courage and determination of the girls during their three-month streak, the people they meet along the arrangement, and their efforts to dodge the trackers who have been sent to retrieve them by the school, is truly keen. This is all position against the backdrop of the Australian outback; the cinematography certainly captures its beauty.

The film is 94 minutes long and moves swiftly. I immediately identified with the girls and felt their awe as well as their bravery as they made their intention across the Australian continent. In a postscript to the sage, we learn more about their lives. It did not turn out to be resplendent. But two of the girls have survived into their nineties, and we meet them briefly. They are strong women with weathered faces, one of them walking with a cane, but clearly at home in their Outback surroundings.
The film is a lesson in inspiration and courage as well as a geography and history lesson about Australia. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Based on (share of) a legal epic, “Rabbit-Proof Fence” details the long rush that three young aboriginal girls embark on after being forcefully taken from their family in order to learn how to “fit into” a white society.
The anecdote is spirited, and the execution from director Phillip Noyce is glorious. This is a perfect film for history teachers to point to their students. The performances are very natural and winning. Peter Gabriel’s collect is trustworthy – with the music playing over the closing credits being some of his best work ever (and appearing in a slightly different do as “Sky Blue” on his 2002 album, _UP_) .

If you have seen this movie and enjoyed it, the DVD is a keeper. The audio commentary from Noyce is superbly done. In addition to giving the viewer background as to how and why he did the movie, he also offers up some spicy tidbits about the contrast between working on mainstream films (“Sure & Indicate Effort,” “Sliver,” etc.) and smaller films like “Rabbit-Proof Fence” and “The Smooth American.” A advantageous documentary is included as well.

First let me construct something clear: in order to like this series, there are a few things you have to win. Such as, teenage boys have eyes, and collect girls physically splendid. And, that this sage blooming obviously must have grown out of the memory of a high school boy fantasizing about his teacher. And, Japanese writers sometimes are a puny unrealistic with initial anecdote setup, so unbiased grit your teeth if the share where they bag married seems a shrimp contrived. It’s the rest of the anecdote you want to view.
If you can accumulate past these, you are going to experience one of the sweeter, and better written, care for stories you will ever advance across. It starts out a romantic comedy, splendid standard “magical girlfriend” fare along the same lines as “Oh, My Goddess”, and unprejudiced as you are getting ragged to that, a remarkable more complex and old-fashioned story sneaks up from tedious you and grabs absorb.

A couple notes: I am a parent, and became enthusiastic in Anime again from watching DVDs first before deciding whether my children should scrutinize them. I am not uptight about occasional nudity (a la Ranma 1/2) or “suggested” sex, but I do try to support them away from situations where the sexual shriek is definite, or is central to thought the legend. For this reason, two warnings:
1) If you are more restrictive than I picture, you probably don’t want your kids to gaze this.
2) In any case, don’t let your younger kids inspect the last episode. It is actually an “add-on” OAV that wasn’t section of the novel TV series, and it isn’t indispensable for getting residence resolution. At one point, a high-school couple are clearly having a romantic get-away in a “appreciate hotel”, and another couple are clearly in a “bondage, S&M” dwelling, and another couple are clearly in a plot that would be statutory rape in the U.S. A shrimp too powerful information for pre-high-school children, even in my liberal idea.
I’ve long held the plan that no matter what sort of film or television shows you like, there is an anime out there for you. This is one of those series that proves my point. I am far from being a fan of typical romantic comedy fare as that particular genre of entertainment is beyond feeble and redundant here in America, but I have found that anime has so powerful more to offer than unprejudiced sex, violence, amazing sci-fi, and over-the-top slapstick humor. There are some damn handsome, truly romantic and touching stories in the anime genre, and this is one of them. While “Savor Hina” and other romantic-comedy anime series’ have tempered their softer side with injurious humor and uncommon characters to beget their stories more, well, more anime-ish, “Please Teacher” shows worthy restraint and -in spite of the teacher from outer location angle- keeps the sci-fi very light, the humor low-key and character-based, and takes a subtler arrive to most of the characters that really helps to bring each of them to life. The intelligent account features many state twists that you would never examine since so many series are mutter to bustle in state for scare of upsetting their fanbases *cough*RanmaInuyasha*cough*. One of the aspects of this series that really adds depth to the state is the main character’s unusual “disease”. When Kei becomes shadowy, he enters a comatose site of suspended animation -sometimes for years at a time- where he goes into his maintain mind to elope from the sadness he finds in his life. Through his experiences with his friends and, of course, his fresh teacher who through a bizarre place of circumstances he’s forced to “marry” (Ms. Kazami, possibly the most charming anime girl ever) he learns that there is no happiness without sadness for difference, and that even if he stands unexcited the universe will withhold though-provoking without him. These sorts of ideas and the diagram they are presented as integral parts of the account are what separate good classics from the throwaway entertainment nick. It also doesn’t pain that the characters in the myth are truly likeable. Ms. Kazami’s trademark phrase is hardly catchy (“This is priority one”) but her delivery of the line (in Japanese, anyways) makes it a pleasure to hear over and over, and don’t regain me started on her chocolate candystick habit. These sorts of minor nuances gain the dissimilarity between the characters you indulge in and the characters you truly feel for. The series ran for a far-too-short 12 episodes, but we are treated to a joyous epilogue that turns out to be the funniest episode of the whole series and really left me feeling overjoyed that I’d given this exhibit a try. If you enjoyed “Fancy Hina”, “Ah! My Goddess”, or “Chobits”, if you are looking for an anime that’s both inspirational and droll, if you’ve seen enough of the giant robots, killer ninjas, and wrong slapstick humor that pervades more typical anime, or if you honest want to bask in a sweet, romantic tale with some feeling and depth, then this is exactly what you are looking for.
